A practical list of ADHD supports, compiled by those living with it.
Meditation teacher Mark Coleman and I recently led a mindfulness, self-compassion, and ADHD weekend in California with over 50 people attending. One of our last activities was a collaborative inquiry about which non-medical supports people have actually found useful with ADHD. The list the participants created seems realistic, kind, and practical.
The framework of the weekend was the premise that the cultivation of awareness, self-compassion, and emotional regulation has foundational benefits specific to living with ADHD, in addition to general health and well-being. The safety and effectiveness of ADHD medication was part of the weekend talk as well. What follows below represents a third aspect of care: a comprehensive list of non-medical supports people living with ADHD have discovered for themselves to be effective.
